RTV Twiney Woods

Another great day of offroading. There were several novices taking part (which i was one of) as well as a good few others.

This is the 2nd time iv been to this site - having been there before didn't really help at all, other than remembering how to get there.

it was a long cold day, a bit of frost, some BIG muddy puddles and lots of trees.

The best bit tho - i came away with a trophy. I managed to come 1st place in the novice class!

sweeet !

Essex Green Lanes 3rd of February

My 1st time out Green Laning, it was Awesome and I enjoyed every second of the day. I invited my little bro along, and from what I can tell he enjoyed it as well.

We got up and were ready to leave the house at 7am. After a short drive (about an hour) we arrived at the meeting point - J8 on the M11 @ the services. We were the 2nd car to arrive, but we hadn't been there long and every one else started to arrive.

By 9:30-10:00 everyone was there and the groups had been arranged, there were 15 cars in total & they were split into 4 groups. In my group there were 3 other vehicles, another Defender, a Discovery & leading the group a Range Rover.

Some of the lanes were amazingly well maintained, they were perfectly clear, perfectly surfaced. There were others that where particularly over grown & at times it looked like I was driving through a bush. Then there were the fun lanes, these were the ones that were muddy, wet, and just generally messy.

In the whole day we only had one recovery, and that was only because of some particularity deep ruts.

Some links to the other people in my groups’ photos:

Im on some of them, and there are a few that are especially good ones.

Me bouncing about in some ruts
Mud + ruts = fun
